19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a torrid year, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents the player's initial title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since March of 2023.
Success also means the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.
The player's defensive play style and frequent outbursts on court had caused observers to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an improved service.
He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.
Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional victory, took control to push for a third set.
He saved 4 early opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he clinched the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
